Living in Boolarra and working in Yinnar, Anthea’s sculptures have won several prizes and grants, including a recent year in New York on the Pollock-Krasner grant. The steel wall sculptures in this exhibition can be described as abstract paintings or drawings in space. Finished in chrome, or painted with oil and enamel, the works, of about 1 cubic meter, occupy an indeterminate space. They blur the distinction between 2 and 3 dimensional perception. Hinting at phenomena, the viewer is asked to observe rather than label the construction.

“My sculpture is gestural and challenges the notion of dimension. It describes an area between 2D and 3D, between drawing/painting and sculpture. It both acknowledges and celebrates it’s indusrtial origins.”
