Baden Johnson - “Elements”

 

 

In his innovative “Living Land” paintings Baden finds a unique expression of his subject by contemplating the palpable connection between the landscape and its micro-environment. The landscapes incorporate flowing elements that suggest the spirit of place and the energy of the molecular dance that breathes life into our environment.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

 

 “My recent paintings are about nature on all its levels. They explore the microcosmic, zooming out to reveal the macrocosm of the landscape in all its glory.  They explore the interconnection of all things.”

 

“I am continuing the theme of the Living Land series, where I am using the landscape as a vehicle to explore the multidimensional reality. In some recent work the dots may appear to be a reference to aboriginal painting, but it is not my intention to mimic that style. Rather they codify my experience in viewing the landscape, as I am conscious of the atomic and molecular levels of nature.”
